america, you're bumming me out

in response to:
woman shouting hail hitler, to a jewish man.

i was just thinking last night that the internet is great in many ways but because of its popularity and accessibility we are subject to everyone's opinions. often this is a good thing but we are also subject ignorant and stupid people; and giving them a voice, an international voice. it brings me down hearing and/or reading about these people and what comes out of their mouths. especially the ones paid big money to broadcast the "news." what makes me more upset is that they [general public] can band together and have a whole mega-corporation (Fox) spreading their verbal poison, bringing other people into a frenzy. then we have this big mess of more and more stupid people drowning out the more intelligent, logical ones. then when there is something good to be done for the whole they are too busy being worked up into a frenzy against it, whatever it is. consequently, due to their aggressive push-back
nothing could be done about the problem and the problem gets worse. when things get worse, it provides them with more fodder to use in their disagreement with whatever...and they are justified for their frenzy. it's a nasty cycle.

i think all one needs to do is look around, watch the news (any source), read the newspapers, etc. to get a scary picture of the future of america. i've been feeling bummed about this country for awhile and the reaction to healthcare reform and other things going on in this country is not making it any better. like genetically modified food! scary. corporations owning everything. scary. the fact that everything is based on profit, and that's it. super scary. our government is totally corrupt, and people don't want to admit it. that's the scariest part. these idiotic americans complain about the least meaningful and/or irrelevant things - what about all these other important issues that directly effect their lives. ugh. these relevant issues are more important than whatever propaganda they watched on tv, telling them what to believe and what to scream at the person they are told to disagree with. what is the deal with their choosing the worst and often least-relevant comparison to something (like nazi's, hitler and communism). i know, it's shock value and to make their point more "poignant" but what does it really do? it makes people angry and deters them away from the real issue. i'm so over people sometimes. there's not enough people standing up to be louder over all this noise.
